Baby quilt size matters more than most people realize. The right size gets used every day. The wrong size sits in a drawer.

A blanket that's too small doesn't swaddle properly. It doesn't cover a baby in a stroller. It doesn't work as a play mat. It ends up being used for nothing because it doesn't do anything particularly well.

A blanket that's too large is hard to manage with a newborn. It bunches, it drags, it's overwhelming in a crib. Too much fabric for a small baby is just as frustrating as too little.

Our knit blankets come in one size: 100 x 75 cm, which is approximately 39 x 29 inches.

This puts them in the medium-to-large range. They're not ideal for newborn swaddling because of the size, but from about two months onward they're extremely versatile. The natural stretch of knit cotton makes them work well as a stroller cover, a crib blanket from twelve months, and a comfort blanket through toddlerhood.

For a newborn shower gift: Order the medium. It's the most useful from day one and lasts the longest. If you want to add something for the very early weeks, a small plus a medium together make a genuinely useful gift set.

For a baby who's already a few months old: Order the medium or large depending on how old they are. A six-month-old doesn't need the small anymore.
